Volunteering

One of the most valuable gifts you can give the museum is your time.
Without our volunteers we would not be able to open the Museum to visitors or to provide many of our services. Over 50 local people currently give their support to keep the museum running.
Our services are in great demand, and the continuing care and maintenance of our collection and ongoing research mean we need more volunteers.

Why volunteer?

  • Volunteering can provide you with a sense of purpose and is proven to improve your physical and mental health.
  • You can gain personal growth and skill development, as well as contributing to your local community.
  • To meet new people and have fun!

What opportunities are there?

We have a variety of volunteering opportunities within the museum, working with visitors or behind the scenes.
It might be that you want to use the skills and knowledge you already have or you may want to learn something new.

How do I apply?

Here is a link to our Volunteer Application Form. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the form and return to volunteer@tivertonmuseum.org.uk and we will be in touch with you to arrange a meeting with us in the museum to discuss your area of interest.
Or if you need more information about volunteering, please email volunteer@tivertonmuseum.org.uk or call 01884 256295

Please note that you have to be 18 years old or over to be able to volunteer at the Museum, except for school work experience.

School Work Experience Placements

If you would like to be considered for a work experience placement, we ask that you (the student) emails volunteer@tivertonmuseum.org.uk explaining why you are interested in a placement with us. Due to high demand, and our limited capacity, we offer limited placements, with a maximum of two students at a time. We recommend applying as far in advance as possible.
