Membership

Become a Member

As a member of the Museum you are able to visit as often as you like, whether for 5 minutes or 5 hours, throughout the year. At the same time, you’ll be supporting the Museum and helping us make it even better for everyone.

And if visiting the Museum in person isn’t possible, why not stay in touch as a Virtual Member.

Whether you join as a family (joint as children 16 or under are FREE of charge) or on your own the Museum looks forward to welcoming you.

Members receive:

  • Free admission to the Museum for 12 months, on standard admission days.
  • Discounts on museum events, including many of our family activities.
  • Priority booking for some of our most popular events.
  • Free visits to the Research Library.
  • Regular e-newsletters telling you what’s happening at the Museum.
  • Discounts on talks and events giving you the chance to dig deeper into the collections and our local history. Some will be available online.
  • Invitations to biannual online Director’s briefings to hear about and discuss the Museum’s plans and progress.

Virtual members receive:

  • In place of free visits to the museum, we offer invitations to two online talks so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your own home
  • Invitations to biannual online Director’s briefings to hear about and discuss the Museum’s plans and progress.
  • Regular e-newsletters telling you what’s happening at the Museum

Annual membership fees

Adult Member           £30

Joint Members          £50 (2 adults at the same address)

Virtual Member         £20

Membership fees qualify for Gift Aid, meaning they become even more valuable to the Museum, at no extra cost to you (Please note that we cannot reclaim tax on memberships bought as gifts).

You can download our membership form and post or email it to us, or pop into the Museum shop and one of our volunteers will be happy to help.

Gift Membership

Gift a whole year’s worth of unlimited admission to the museum to your loved ones. With a museum membership card they can pop in as often as they like throughout the year, and receive discounts on our events. From as little as £30 a year (single adult membership) this is a great gift idea for all the museum lovers in your life!
