Spinning a Yarn

25th May 2023 at 18:30 - 20:30

A painting of a man in a waistcoat holding a candle on a candlestick up. The image is quite dark but the man's face is illuminated.

Our Director Pippa Griffith explores our archives to give an introduction to Mid Devon’s wool trade. Join us to discover why, during the 1600s and early 1700s, Tiverton was the most important inland town in Devon.

This event is run in partnership with the Workers’ Educational Association and is the first of their series of events exploring the history of Tiverton’s wool trade.

Join them for ‘Tiverton’s Woollen Trade: The Merchants Who Made Tiverton’ – A Talk and Walk on Saturday 27th May.
