‘A demonstration of agricultural tractors and tractor implements… was arranged at Huxham Barton Stoke Canon. Twenty well known firms made entries. The demonstration, which was in collaboration with Seale-Hayne Agricultural College, was anticipated with much interest by agriculturalists. At present the use of the tractor to draw ploughs and other implements has not been taken advantage of to the extent anticipated’. Tiverton Gazette, March 1921
The Museum is known for its large collection of farming implements, farm carts and waggons. There is also an Oliver tractor which was shipped across the Atlantic during the Second World War to Nether Exe Farm. The Americans provided food, military equipment and other essential items to Britain and the Allied nations. The photos from our collection are four colourful tractor seats from different firms. The seats appear to be quite collectable these days.
