Terrific Tuesdays - World War Two Day

27 August 2019

We are marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the time. See an American Jeep, and find out about the GI camp, rations and WW2 food with a chance to taste some recipes. Follow the trail to explore our WW2 collection and make a poppy to remember those who fell during the war.
Children must be accompanied. Drop-in event. 
Free (normal admission applies)
Activities timetabled between 11.00 - 3.00

Visit Tiverton Museum's new temporary exhibition and explore Mid Devon's international links over the centuries.

The exhibition is family friendly. Entry as part of normal admission. Runs until 31 August.

Deeds or Words? Talk by Julia Neville

Deeds or Words? Devon Suffrage Activists and the growth of militancy in the Votes for Women campaign.
Dr Julia Neville was part of the Devon History Society Devon Suffrage Activits project in 2017-18, looking at the distinctive nature of the movement in Devon. In this talk she reflects on what happened after the failure of the Conciliation Committee in 1911 and how the movement in Devon split over the issue of militancy.

Fragments of Time; A Collection of Prints

Artists attending the print club based at Tiverton Museum are pleased to be able to show a range of prints that explore the museum collections. 
Printmaking is often a process of changing and adapting our visula world, creating abstracts and fragmentations. For this exhibition members of the print club have taken the museum collection and explore a range of ideas including societal change, weights and balances, domestic memories and changes in farming. 

Friday 6th September to Tuesday 1st October.

Odette

08 November 2019

In this illustrated talk Amyas Crump explores Odette, known to many as a wartime heroine, as a local mother of three young girls, her love of the Blackdown Hills and life away from wartime France. 

There will also be a small display of memoribilia and some copies of the latest book on Odette available.
